Can civilians under the Ministry of Defence become members?

Yes, all civilians that have undergone training in both Australia and Malaysia with the Ministry of Defence can apply for membership.

How long does it take for my membership to be activated?

It usually takes approximately 3 working days for us to e-mail you your membership details.

What sorts of events does M-ADAA do?

M-ADAA normally arranges 4 to 5 events each year and the program is reviewed by the Committee. Many are open functions for all members and we try to arrange events outside of Kuala Lumpur such as Ipoh, Butterworth, Johor Baru or Sandakan. Some events are just for a particular group such as the Air Traffic Control course or the OCS Portsea dinner.

What is the benefit of joining M-ADAA?

Membership is free but you must meet the criteria of membership first. M-ADAA brings together Malaysian Armed Forces with their Australian Defence Force colleagues and is a great way to maintain friendships. We have active and retired members from all 3 services as well as Ministry of Defence civilians. Just because you retire does not change your status at M-ADAA.

How will I be informed or invited to events?

We use an email system to send invitations and we prefer a non-government email address as it may get rejected. Please check your inbox for rsvp@m-adaa.org as they are sometimes put into the Spam box on first transmission. We do not use WhatsApp or Facebook but we usually place a notice on Facebook that we have sent an email for an event. We would like a reply, so email back (press reply) to rsvp@m-adaa.org if you are attending but if you are not able (MRU), let us know as well so we know we are in contact. We send an email every 6 months to check your details such as promotion, title and locations.

Do I need to attend a certain number of events to keep membership?

No. Please come if you are able. Some events are early in the morning (Anzac Day at 0530), some lunch time, most are in the evenings and the location is changing so we don’t expect you to attend all.

How do I update me details if I change my email address or phone number?

There are two ways: (1) – Use the Register as Member, say you are an existing member and fill in the new details or (2) send us an email at membership@m-adaa.org with the new details
